The action plan for reaching peak carbon dioxide before 2030, announced by the Chinese government in October 2021, clarified the target of reducing CO₂ emissions by 18% in 2025 compared to 2020. In April 2022, as part of our activities to reduce CO₂ emissions, our company installed a solar power generation system, which generates 913,808 kWh per year and is likely to reduce CO₂ emissions by 685 t-CO₂ a year.
We will continue to take on challenges to be a pioneer in achieving carbon neutrality.

We held an emergency drill in May 2021 and learned how to use a hydrant and a fire extinguisher and how to wind a hose from firefighters at the Tenjin City Fire Department. As this was our first experience of the firefighting process of winding a hose, we improved our awareness and firefighting skills. We will use what we learned for future firefighting activities.

To help children learn how to prevent crimes, we provided kindergarten and elementally school children and their parents and teachers with a coloring book that is published by the German detectives union and helps children learn about crime prevention topics while having fun. The book contains pages for coloring, stories, and spot-the-difference activities incorporating traffic rules and the police perspective.

On September 23, 2021 we carried out a volunteer activity in Ochang Lake Park near our company. Seven participants, divided into two groups, picked up trash on the walkway around the pond and on the lawn.
Although we clean the park on a routine basis, it looked more beautiful after we had removed trash lodged in inaccessible grassy areas and little-visited sections. The volunteer activity helped conserve the natural environment for visitors, animals, and plants alike. We will continue our activity to be able to pass on a beautiful natural environment to future generations.

We are aiming to achieve zero accidents by putting safety first. According to the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) accounts for 13% of all causes of workplace deaths. However, the chance of survival improves by 70% if victims are treated with cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and an AED* within three minutes. CPR training and the installation of AEDs are therefore an extremely important part of an emergency response plan. Our company provides CPR training every two years. As the training sessions were held on a small-group basis, all employees received both CPR and AED training and acquired CPR and AED certification. They can also make use of what they learned in their daily life as well as at their workplaces. We will maintain our zero accident status in line with the safety practices required by the OSHA guidelines.

Cancellation of outdoor activities continued from 2020 in view of the strict restrictions on outings imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Under such circumstances, we could only carry out the morning cleanup in certain places around the company and with limits on the amount of time spent. Employees, mainly from manufacturing and the warehouse, weeded the sidewalks and cleaned gutters.

To achieve the CO₂ emissions reduction target (reducing CO₂ emissions by 50% by 2030 compared to FY2013 level) and contribute to the development of a carbon-free world, we introduced a solar power generation system with a maximum output of 816 kW and officially started its operation in April 2022.
The system has the potential to reduce CO₂ emissions by 466 tons a year, equivalent to 11% of our emissions. As the annual hours of sunshine in our country is longer than that in Japan, it is likely to generate more electricity. We will also consider using surplus electricity.

We used to cooperate for the local festival every year to promote friendship with the local community. As local festivals are cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we instead directed our effort to donating mistakenly written postcards to the Kanagawa UNICEF Association.
UNICEF uses the donations to help children around the world, through programs to promote child health, nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene, protection, and emergency humanitarian relief.
