Release of Glass Film Made from 100% Recycled PET Resin

Reduces CO2 Emissions by Utilizing Used Plastic Bottles as Raw Material

Lintec has developed a glass film that incorporates 100% recycled PET resin into the facestock. On December 2, Lintec will release a transparent glass film for windows designed to prevent the scattering of glass shards in the event of breakage. In addition, on January 6, Lintec will launch a digital printing-compatible film designed for glass decoration.

Window Film That Prevents Glass Shard Scattering

Lintec offers window films under its WINCOS brand, providing diverse benefits including heat insulation, crime prevention, and insect repellency when applied across the entire surface of window glass. Now, Lintec has expanded its lineup with the introduction of 1501UH RECYCLE 100, a film made entirely from recycled PET resin, designed to prevent glass fragments from scattering in the event of an earthquake or other disaster. In the unlikely event of a glass fracture, the film mitigates the scattering of shards, thereby reducing the risk of secondary accidents. By using plastic bottles as the raw material, this film achieves a CO2 reduction of approximately 17.5% compared to the previous 1501UH product.

Like Lintec's previous mainstay products, the new film complies with the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS)*1 for shatterproof testing and blocks over 99% of ultraviolet rays*2 that enter indoor spaces. This safe and environmentally friendly product is available from December 2.

Digital Printing-Compatible Film for Glass Decoration

Lintec also markets visual marking materials for indoor and outdoor signage as well as interior decoration under its LAG SYSTEM brand. As part of this brand, Lintec will add large-format printable materials for glass decoration made from 100% recycled PET resin. The two new additions are E-2200ZC RECYCLE 100, featuring strong adhesion, and the E-2201RC RECYCLE 100, which combines strong adhesion with removability for applications requiring reapplication. Both products contribute to CO2 reductions of approximately 16.8% and 16.2%, respectively.

Like Lintec's earlier products, these glass films are suitable for UV inkjet printing, which cures ink using ultraviolet light. Starting January 6, Lintec will propose these films to printing and construction companies.
