LINTEC expands lineup of labelstocks made from empty PET plastic bottles

Labelstock made from 100% recycled PET resin

Since 2015, LINTEC has been selling labelstocks made from over 80% recycled PET resin, obtained from empty PET plastic bottles. Now LINTEC has developed a new labelstock made from 100% recycled PET resin. The new labelstock will be launched both in Japan and overseas as of February 3.

Expanding our lineup of labelstocks made from recycled PET resin

Since 2015, LINTEC has been selling the KP5000 transparent labelstock, which is made using over 80% recycled PET resin as the raw material for its facestock. This product received high-level recognition, enabling LINTEC to become the first ever Japanese company to be awarded a Label Industry Global Award (in the Sustainability category) at the Label Industry Global Awards 2015 run by the UK Tarsus Group, which hosts the large-scale label industry trade expo Label Expo in countries around the world.

In view of this, since 2015, LINTEC has been working to expand its range of items with facestocks made using over 80% recycled PET resin, including transparent labelstocks featuring adhesives that enable them to be affixed firmly to surfaces, yet also peeled off cleanly without leaving marks; and deposited aluminum type labelstocks that present a shiny, silver-like appearance.

The new labelstock can be used to label a wide range of products

Achieve the same level of physical properties as non-recycled PET film-based labelstocks

Despite utilizing 100% recycled PET resin for its facestock material, the new KP3802L transparent-type labelstock to be launched on this occasion achieves the same level of physical properties as non-recycled PET film-based labelstocks, which do not utilize recycled PET. Since the facestock is also thin in comparison with general-purpose facestocks (50µm), at a thickness of only 38µm, it also contributes to reducing overall consumption of recycled raw materials themselves. The adhesive used in KP3802L is also a new environmentally friendly emulsion-type adhesive. It can also be used for a wide-range of applications, such as product labelling, POP (Point of Purchase) advertisements and eye-catching labels. Moving forward, LINTEC will continue striving to develop and propose labelstocks that lead to decreases in environmental impact.
