VDI, LLC, a U.S. subsidiary of LINTEC, manufactures and markets various types of special functional films harnessing its vapor deposition technique which involves heating and vaporizing metal in a vacuum and then forming a thin layer of metal on a film surface. Using this technique, LINTEC has developed a half-metalized labelstock that provides new design characteristics that ordinary metalized labelstocks do not exhibit. The product will be released on January 29 and be available inside and outside Japan.

Featuring a metallic look, the labelstock enables transparent designs, as it allows light to pass through. By applying the labelstock to clear containers, the inside can be seen through the label, opening up a wider range of design possibilities.

This special metalized labelstock boasts a thin label facestock of 36 μm, reducing petroleum resource usage compared to general-purpose labels (50 μm). Moreover, the product uses an eco-friendly, newly developed emulsion-based pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA).

Enhancing the feeling of luxury, the product is a high value-added product that meets modern eco-friendly demands. It has a wide range of potential purposes, including daily necessities, cosmetics, and various other product labels, as well as point of purchase (POP) advertising and other eye-catching labels. LINTEC will continue striving to develop or propose unique products using the technologies of its overseas subsidiaries.
